Vi er stolte over at Torstein har fått godkjent 2 foredrag til NDC 2019 i Oslo.
En lyntale og ett hovedforedrag. Foredragene som skal holdes er:
- Terraforming Azure (foredrag)
- Why you should think twice before choosing CosmosDB (lyntale)
Terraforming Azure
If you are working with resources in Azure and don’t know Terraform, chances are that will benefit from this session. Terraform has made a lot of progress lately in terms of Azure-support and is ready to help you improve how you manage your Azure resources.
This session will introduce Terraform and give you a primer on how to use it. Azure Resource Manager is one of the alternatives to Terraform, and you will learn about how they differ and help you choose the right tool. The session will feature a mix live-coding and slides. You will get the most out of the presentation if you know a bit about Azure or Azure Resource Manager.
I will share my experience with Terraform and Azure Resource Manager, which hopefully will make it easier to understand what might be the right tool in your context. Terraform is not perfect, and you’ll learn about some of the challenges you might face.
Why you should think twice before choosing CosmosDB
CosmosDB promises some amazing things, and in all fairness, it’s a pretty cool product. My team have been using CosmosDB on system that require both high levels of performance and uptime. After hours of design sessions, experimentation, performance testing, rewriting the document structure, using new partition keys, faking consistency in the application and several other attempts to make it work for us, we are fairly certain that CosmosDB does not fit our context - despite being told that it should work. The system we work on is in production, and our experience is based on real-world usage.
This lightning talk will explain our scenario and why think you should think twice before choosing CosmosDB. It won’t be all doom and gloom, and the talk will explain some scenarios we think it’s well suited for.
Lykke til og vi gleder oss til høre dem live.
